I saw an interesting question today.
Someone asked whether it's better to sell on Etsy or Amazon.
That's the wrong question.
The better question is: why limit yourself to just one platform?
The same principle applies whether you're an affiliate marketer, you own your own products, you're a coach or consultant, or in any other context where you want to make money online.
Different products suit different platforms. Different audiences shop in different places. And building your entire business on one platform is like building a house on someone else's land.
They can change the rules anytime.
Etsy can raise fees. Amazon can suspend your account. Facebook can throttle your reach. YouTube can demonetize your channel.
It happens every day.
The people who build real security online are the ones who diversify.
Not scatter themselves thin. Diversify.
They have a blog that brings in search traffic.
They have a newsletter that reaches people directly.
They have products on multiple platforms.
They have relationships with real people, not just algorithmic reach.
This is why I believe so strongly in owning your audience.
When you have a newsletter, no platform can take that away from you.
When you have a blog that ranks in search, you have traffic that doesn't depend on ad spend.
When you have multiple ways people can find you and buy from you, you sleep better at night.
So if you're selling on one platform right now, that's fine. Start there.
But start building your second platform this week.
Start a blog.
Start a newsletter.
List your product somewhere else.
Give yourself options.
Because the opportunity isn't Etsy vs Amazon.
The opportunity is building something no single platform can control.
