My goal in business is to help you go farther faster than you can alone.
This is why AI is a two-edged sword.
On one hand it’s a huge time saver. On the other hand, it's a huge time waster.
For the past few years, working with AI every day, I've developed a phrase that I tell my clients that has helped them tremendously. I'm going to share it with you right now.
Ask how = AI. Ask if = your brain.
Every decision you make in your business is one of two questions.
A "how" question is mechanical.
How do I write this email?
How do I set up this page?
How do I find 20 prospects?
An "if" question is strategic.
Should I raise my price?
Should I launch this product?
Should I serve this market?
One type eats your day. The other type builds your future.
Here is the problem.
Most of us answer "how" questions all day and wonder why we never get to the "if" questions.
The hows are not hard. They are just loud. They pile up and drown out the thinking that actually moves the needle.
And this is exactly what AI is for.
Not for deciding. For doing.
The deciding is yours. It always was.
So here is your exercise tonight. It takes five minutes.
1. Grab a blank page. Paper or notes app. Whatever is closest.
2. Write down the last five decisions you made in your business. Big or small. Just list them.
3. Label each one "how" or "if." Be honest. "Which software should I use" is a how dressed up as an if.
4. Draw a line under the hows. Every how on that list is something AI can research, draft, or automate for you.
5. Circle the ifs. Those are the only questions that deserve your best brain hours.
Do this and you will notice something.
Most of what kept you busy today was hows wearing an if costume.
That is the trap. Busywork feels like strategy because it fills the same hours.
But a how never changed your business. An if always can.
Let me not overstate it. AI will not make your if decisions for you. Anyone selling you that is selling snake oil.
What it will do is take the hows off your plate so you have the time and energy to make the ifs well.
That trade is worth everything.
