There is one skill that separates good marketers from great ones.
It is not copywriting. It is not traffic. It is not funnel design.
It is asking the right questions.
The right question, asked at the right time, can reveal more about your customers (and potential customers) than any analytics dashboard ever will.
Today I want to share a set of questions that can make a real difference in your business.
They work with customers.
They work with potential customers.
They work with people who have never heard of you.
Here is my favorite.
What do you love and what do you hate about _______?
The subject of the question could be your product. It could be your offer. It could be social media. It could be one of a thousand things.
As long as the thing you ask about leads them closer to buying from you, or benefiting from what they've already bought, you're in good shape.
Humans gravitate toward things they love and move quickly away from things they hate.
Love and hate are strong words. But in this context, they are exactly the right words.
If you want to soften it, use "like" and "dislike."
Did you know that you can build an entire online business and map out the perfect product line by simply asking questions?
Let's use the love and hate question as an example.
Ask this question about the following things and you will learn more in five minutes than most surveys teach in a week.
What do you love and what do you hate about …
The last product you purchased. What made you finalize the purchase? What made you hesitate? The answers are a roadmap for your own sales page.
The person you follow on Facebook. Why do you keep following them? What do they do that annoys you? The answers reveal what builds an audience and what breaks one.
The business or industry you are in. What excites you about it? What drives you crazy? The answers are the foundation for every piece of content you will ever create.
Now here are six more questions that can open doors you did not know were there.
1. What almost stopped you from buying? This reveals the objections your sales page must overcome. Every objection is a sentence you need to write.
2. What were you doing right before you decided to buy? This reveals the trigger moment. If you know what happens right before the decision, you can engineer more of those moments.
3. If this were no longer available, what would you do instead? This reveals your true competition. It is rarely who you think.
4. What would you tell a friend who was thinking about buying? This reveals your real value proposition in the customer's own words. That is the best copy you will ever get your hands on.
5. What is the one thing you wish it did that it does not do? This reveals your next product. Your customers will tell you exactly what to build if you bother to ask.
6. How did you feel right after you bought? This reveals whether your buying experience creates confidence or regret. One leads to refunds. The other leads to repeat sales.
Here is the beautiful part.
None of these questions require software.
None of them require AI.
None of them cost a dime.
They require curiosity and the willingness to listen.
Pick one question. Ask it to five people this week.
The answers will surprise you.
To your success,
Charlie
P.S. If you found this helpful, do me a favor and forward it to a friend who needs it. Word of mouth is still the best marketing there is.
P.P.S. If you want to work with me directly on your marketing this is the easiest way.
